Is WhatsApp Plus Legal?
WhatsApp Plus is a fabulous mod for people who are tired of the same settings and customization options as the official app. Usually, you can't do anything regarding the app settings. But this app changes everything regarding how people think about better customization, privacy, and security.
Though, there's always been a question of whether WhatsApp Plus is legal to use! Like many other mods, you are getting a reverse-engineered stock Android app, which makes the app violate the terms and conditions of use. Thus, WhatsApp+ can be considered a non-legal app. But at the same time, you have to be aware of the risks involved in using this app.
Like many other WhatsApp mods, WhatsApp+ was also not created with the permission of the official owner; instead, it was developed by a third-party developer. They use the same source codes as WhatsApp, though the company, aka WhatsApp Inc., has never claimed that their source code has been made available to third-party developers. This results in a copyright violation, and it's entirely against the terms and conditions of use that are generally imposed by WhatsApp.
Usually, the developer creates all of those mods without any permission which can consider a crime to some extent, though they don't sue or threaten the company. Instead of that, the company politely give the notice to remove the download link from the forum sites. Aside from this, it is not illegal to use the modified version like WhatsApp+ for the users. But at the same time, there are several consequences, and risk factors involved in using this app!
In 2015, WhatsApp launched a staggering mass ban and forced users to uninstall their WhatsApp mod accounts so that they could switch back to the official app. But eventually, the strict terms faded with time and many developers release the Anti-ban features. But still, there's always risk involved as the MODs user's account gets blocked, and it may affect if you have finally decided to go with the WhatApp+ APK.
